flypop's sustainability and environmental programme
At flypop we believe that flying doesn’t have to cost the earth. We want to lead the way in the decarbonisation of the airline industry and ultimately become the world’s first truly carbon-neutral international airline.
Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do, both on the ground and in the air.
Becoming a sustainable business is an evolving and continuous journey. As new research and science inform us of ways that businesses and individuals can change their behaviour, we can better protect our planet for future generations.
The flypop vision for sustainability and the environment is based on three pillars: people, planet, and purpose.
People:
Our highest priority is to deliver the best customer experience that ensures safety, satisfaction and sustainability.
Where possible we choose suppliers and partners who share our values and vision and have corporate sustainability policies in place.
Planet:
We are fully committed to the UK Government targets of net zero emissions by 2050 and our goal is to reach net zero earlier than this.
For every passenger who travels with us, we will plant a tree. This fantastic commitment from flypop will help enhance biodiversity, protect shorelines from erosion, produce food, create jobs for women, and improve the livelihoods of local people.
Our tree planting partner SankalpTaru uses blockchain technology to ensure that every tree planted on behalf of flypop passengers is traceable to an individual and even allows people to virtually visit the trees planted on their behalf
Purpose:
We believe we have a social responsibility to the communities where we operate.
flypop will be donating five meals in the UK and India for every meal purchased onboard our flights. Our goal is to protect children from hunger in order to improve their nutritional, health, and educational needs whilst promoting long-term sustainable benefits to children, their caregivers, and communities.
All meals provided through our partner The Akshaya Patra Foundation (tapf.org.uk) are locally sourced, homemade, highly nutritious vegetarian meals.
We are not done yet: our journey has only just begun.
